Got a turn-off notice? Start here.

Read the date on your notice. Call the number printed on your own bill, not a number a caller gives you. Never pay with a gift card, a prepaid card or a money transfer. Wattaroo helps you read your bill and find official help. It does not give legal advice.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you act on a notice.

Can Wattaroo stop a shutoff?

No. Wattaroo cannot stop a shutoff, pay your bill or contact your utility for you. Under the state rule, a signed payment agreement returned on time can prevent a shutoff. Ask the utility how it applies to your notice.

No. Wattaroo is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It shows official sources and guidance. For advice about your case, contact a legal aid office or the agency named on your notice.

Who should I call about my notice?

Call the number printed on your own bill or notice. Do not call a number a caller gives you.

Someone wants payment by gift card to stop the shutoff. What now?

Hang up. Never pay with a gift card, a prepaid card or a money transfer. Call the number on your bill to check.

Will Wattaroo send my form to the utility?

No. Nothing is submitted for you. You send any form yourself.
